I think a lot of these reductive “Terry fixes everything” plots come from ppl caring more about their old faves than Terry and using him as a convenient plot device to fix the stuff that makes them feel sad
like I KNOW you wanna focus on ur faves i GET THAT. Believe me. But Terry doesn’t exist to act as a bandage for your faves. He doesn’t care about your faves!! He has a very clear goal in becoming Batman, which is to help his community from (cue intro) greed, corruption, apathy hhdjhfds and nowhere in there does it say “oh yeah and be a free family therapist for a bunch of people he’s vaguely heard about”
It’s just. Very telling when ppl do that. Like those fics and hcs are nice to read on occasion for me, but I’ve never felt the appeal of making a piece w even remotely that premise bc it’s just. Not Terry. And also another existence of writers taking BB and focusing on anything but the second B
I think Terry wouldn’t ever do the “tracks down old fam members and forces them to all start talking again” trope bc he knows it’s not his place (he’s very good at not pushing an issue if he senses ppl are genuinely sensitive about it) and that Bruce?? Is a fully grown adult?? And so are all his kids??? And if they wanted to have a civil conversation and reconnect that’s on them and them alone and he’s not gonna take on the responsibility of other ppls emotions bc that’s not good for u nor is it worth it????
Anyways tldr Terry doesn’t exist to act as an emotional crutch to Bruce or any of ppls other faves and treating him as such cheapens the whole story of BB
